The Meaning Behind the Picture: My Dad
While my mother introduced me to needlepoint at a very young age (and if you've visited my About page, you've probably read that story), the heart behind this business is my dad.
The man in these photos is almost 85 years old, and he has shaped who I am more than anyone else in my life. He taught me that success isn't measured by what you have, but by how you treat people, how hard you work, and how willing you are to serve others. Long before I understood those lessons, I watched him live them every single day.
His sayings have become legendary among our family and friends, but it's his actions that have always spoken the loudest. He embodies what many would call the American Dream—not because of what he achieved, but because of the character, integrity, and generosity with which he achieved it.
Whenever I've doubted myself, he's encouraged me to do more, give more, and be more. He taught me that showing up matters, that relationships matter, and that the little things we do for others often leave the biggest impact.
So while Emerald Coast Needlepoint is built on a love of stitching, it's really built on the values he instilled in me. This business, this community, and this journey are my way of honoring a man who spent a lifetime inspiring everyone around him.
In many ways, this venture is my love letter to my dad. And if I can build something that reflects even a small part of the kindness, work ethic, and joy he has brought to others, I'll consider it a success. ❤️
